I know that web & marketing services are ALL OVER THE MAP. When you get a quote, how do you know you’re getting a good deal? Or even more importantly, how do you know that the investment will return back to you when it’s all finished?
Let’s dig into the anatomy of my $5k proposal {since I can only speak for myself} …
Most of my VIP clients sign on for two months. When they do so, they are working closely with me on multiple projects – custom website design, sales funnels, launch strategy, Facebook advertising, email marketing, and more.
The average client needs at least one major tech-piece done for them, a funnel sequence, a website, an e-book, quiz, or other type freebie.
Here are some average rates for each of those things..separately of course.
- Website Design on the Genesis Framework – anywhere from $550-$3500 depending on the level of customization. You also have to factor in…does it include hosting, the actual theme, any premium plugins?
- E-Book Design – $200 – $800 for formatting and design of a 20 page or less e-book. It goes up from there.
- Quiz Lead Magnet Software – Not even the designing and writing of it, just the quiz software alone – LeadQuizzes is $97 a month, Gravity forms has a quiz add-on and you’re paying around $129 a year. To write the quiz, you’d have to hire a copywriter, and someone who’s able to reverse engineer questions to work with your niche and expertise. Then, someone to design the graphics and the page to host it on.
- Funnel Sequences (the writing portion) – Copywriters (the good ones) will charge around $600-900 for a set of six or seven emails. The really good ones? Thousands. I know a copywriter who charges $1k for an about page.
- Email Automation Marketers – These are the people who set up the tags and automation in your customer relationship manager. A basic implementation package runs you about $2000.00.
- Business strategy and coaching – Well, I can’t even begin to give you a range, but I know a lot of people who pay thousands for a coach, who do nothing but strategize – no actual tech training or help is included. An average price is between $4500 and $6000 for 12 weeks.
- Social media strategy and graphics – You can hire a VA for packages between $600-1800 a month, but they’ll be expecting you to tell them exactly what to do.
- Training – Amy Porterfield’s Webinar Training is $997. Mariah Coz’ F*ck Yeah Funnels is $97. There are copywriting courses, Facebook ad courses, and courses on courses. They all are around $197-$997 and up, and provide no one-on-one help.
- VA assistant services for webinars and landing pages – Again, these prices are all over the map, but it’s hundreds of dollars a month for assistant for even just one telesummit or webinar.
- Launch consulting – I am aware of several high level coaches who charge between $10k and $40k for launch strategy.
- WordPress help – At the cheapest level, you can hire WPCurve to 30 minute tweaks a month for $70 or so.
An online business isn’t that different from a brick and mortar. No one scoffs at a family member who opens up a guitar shop and needs to hire designers, construction crew, lawyers, consultants, find a place to rent, etc. etc. But somehow when it’s online, you think because the software is readily available to anyone, you should be able to do it yourself.
And yes, you can.
But there are a lot of people who come to me already having spent thousands trying to do this on their own, and with nothing to show for it. Barely an email list, a poorly designed site, and a smattering of programs and tools that don’t work together cohesively.
There are two parts to a successful working relationship with a coach, strategist, or program. You need BOTH tech help and strategy. Whether you want the tech help to be done for you, or you want to learn it yourself, this is still key to your investment. Don’t invest in a course or coach who won’t actually show you how to execute what is being taught.
Secondly, just tech can be overwhelming for people. This is why even with the millions of free tutorials on YouTube, you’ll find struggling biz owners still spinning their wheels. This is because there is no over-arching strategy. It’s all spray and pray. This is not what you want to bank your investment money on.
A $5-6k proposal gets you ME for 8 weeks. My brain and expertise becoming one with your business idea. If you are into hormone health, so am I. If it’s olive oil you dig, then I start cooking with it.
In order to be able to bring a business to life online, in emails, ads, design and branding, I need to be acquainted with the content. So I work to train you, strategize with you, and actually DO things for you. Things that would take far too long to teach.
On average, I will spend between 20-40 hours a month on your project. My rate is $150.00 when I’m hourly. So you can do the math. My proposals are a steal!
Not only are you getting 1:1 training and services with me, you’re also getting a full course program that sells for $997 on its’ own. It’s chalked full of tutorials, tips, swipe files, a community, and weekly live Q&A sessions.
Some of you might be thinking, “$150 an hour? Where do you get off?”
I’ll tell you. First of all, I have thousands of hours in all this technology. I’m an expert designer and WordPress teacher. I also know every landing page, email provider, course program, membership option, shopping cart system out there.
Secondly, I’m an entrepreneur. Which means, 36% of my income is handed over to the government. So my $150.00 an hour rate is actually only $94 an hour after taxes. Putting that in perspective, a $5000 proposal is only $3200.00
Then, figure in that I have no health insurance benefits, no 401k, nothing. It’s all on me. The benefits and perks of an employer are not within my reach.
Finally, I need to run a business too. I have expenses – developer licenses, training, software, virtual assistants, advertising, and more. The overhead is lower than brick and mortar, but it’s still there. When you break it all down, you see just where those dollars and cents go.
There you have it. Inside the real numbers of a $5k proposal. What seems like a ton of money, ends up to be an honest and fair living when all is said and done.
And what about you – the client? Without an online business manager, you are stuck in the hamster wheel of the DIY method.
With me? You are closer to your own five or six figure launch, a website and funnel that will bring in quality leads over and over again, and a foundation for a thriving online business that can support the lifestyle you crave for your family.
